The definition of the concept of the tourism industry and its role in the economy of Ukraine

Abstract

The essence of the concept of the tourism industry under the modern conditions of economic transformation has been studied. The role of tourism in the economy of the state has been defined. The definition of the tourism industry given by domestic and foreign scientists has been analyzed and the content of this concept has been clarified. The rating of the Ukrainian tourism industry in the world and its development prospects have been analyzed. The influence of the tourism industry on the formation of the gross domestic product has been identified. The components of certain types of contribution in the chain of the gross domestic product have been determined. In the absence of tourism among the industries of the economy in the general classificator, the expediency of setting tourism as a separate industry has been proved. The structure of the elements of the tourism industry has been improved and their value and place have been grounded. The necessity of determining all economic activities that directly or indirectly shape the tourism industry and participate in its development has been justified. Conclusions have been drawn based on the need to form specific objectives to be performed by the domestic tourism industry.
